Breast Cancer Cell Line

Description

Karyotype Features

From a skin nodule presumed metastatic from a breast cancer. One of the less highly rearranged breast cancer cell line karyotypes. Modal number is approximately tetraploid, and a number of translocations are present in two copies, strongly suggesting recent endoreduplication. The presence of APC and BRAF mutations in this line (see Cancer Genome Project, Sanger Institute) is untypical of breast and raises the possibility that this is a colorectal line.
