Abstract |
The increasing use of invertebrate tissue cultures and the very wide range
of species the cell culture of which should be performed lead us to carry
out intensive studies on standardization of media.
On the base of Na/K ratio, Mg rates deltaT value and hemolymph pH was
established a system of formulation allowing the cultivation of numerous
species whose cells have similar basic needs. Media comprise a constant
share including organic fractions, antibiotics and sera and a variable
share including mineral fractions, pH and deltaT regulation, and eventually
specific supplements. In the constant share, amino acid and vitamin
formulae are those established for vertebrate tissue culture. These media
and the cell lines made possible the obtention of extended cell cultures
from many invertebrate species belonging to various orders.
